Of Ransomville, NY passed away peacefully following a brief illness on November 28, 2024. Mr. Halliday was born on February 6, 1950 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Wilfred and Doris (Boeldt) Halliday.
Mr. Halliday attended Lewiston Porter High School, graduating in 1968.
He served from 1969 until his retirement with an honorable discharge in 2004, in the New York State Air National Guard 107th Air Wing, retiring as a Master Sergeant. While serving in the military, "Doc", was deployed several times, including to Oman in 2002 during Operation Enduring Freedom after the 9/11 attacks.
Following retirement, he drove a school bus for Lewiston Porter schools.
He was the dearly loved father of Christine Halliday and "Papa" to his grandchildren, Addison and Ryan Higley. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, camping and working on various home improvement projects. He is survived by his brother James Halliday, three sisters: Nita Josey, Linda Fleck and Kim Caterina, his former spouse Marcia (Lowery) Halliday and several nieces and nephews.
His family will be present on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 4-7 PM at The RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewiston Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487, P.O. Box 1164, Lewiston, NY 14092 or the Western New York Quarter Horse Club, Inc. (c/o Cheryl Bish, 3796 North Ridge Road, Lockport, NY 14094).
