William Charles Hannon, Sr. Msgt. (Ret) passed away peacefully at his home on October 14, 2025. Born on September 27, 1943, in Syracuse, New York to Thomas Hannon and Katherine Hall, the second youngest of seventeen children. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Sylvia Hannon and children, Jennifer Hannon, Kelly Wisniewski (Dan), Lorie Slaughter (Mark), Wendi Folse (David), Victoria Genova (Mike) and Randy Kennedy; Grandchildren, A.J. Ramos (Vanessa), Lexie Gerbis, Shannon Gerbis, Kaden Wisniewski, Ryan Wisniewski, Cecilia Genova (Mark Emerson), Courney Shields (Matthew), Anthony Genova (Lauren), Nikki Genova, Kristen Wadenpfuhl, Veronica Genova and Corinne Folse. After graduating high school in Syracuse he moved to Florida. It was there that he proudly joined the United States Air Force to serve his country and was privileged to travel the world, including Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1987. His civilian work for the government brought him to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he met and married the love of his life, Sylvia. Upon his second retirement from the government, he went to work for the City of Kenner at the Brake Tag Station, where he enjoyed being "The Brake Tag Man". It was there that he got to meet all of the nice people of Kenner, who enjoyed his Mr. Billisms such as "Its Showtime", "Outstanding" and "Just Dandy". He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, one liners and love of golf, poker, Bud Light and pinochle. He was a devoted New York Yankees fan from birth, a transplant New Orleans Saints fan, a University of Syracuse sports fan and a John Curtis High School football fan.
