William D. Hart, III, 85, of Lykens, passed away peacefully, early Saturday morning, October 4, 2025.

Born in Lykens, on Friday, November 17, 1939, a son of the late William Hart II and Anna Trumpeter Hart. Bill was a 1957 graduate of the former Lykens High School.

He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Lykens United Methodist Church.

Bill was the owner of Hart Financial Strategies, Lykens. Prior to owning his own business, Bill was an electronic technician for AMP/Tyco and Johnson Controls.

He was a proud United States Marine Corp veteran, serving during the Vietnam war. He looked back at his time in Okinawa, Japan with great pride.

Bill had a genuine passion for music. He was a skilled trombonist, playing for over 63 years. He belonged to many bands throughout the years, including the Williamstown Military Band and the Liberty Hose Company Band #2. He also was a tenor and belonged to numerous choirs in the area. He will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Above all else, Bill's family was the center of his world. He was extremely proud of his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Stotelmyer Hart, April 15, 2025.

Surviving are Bill's four children, Elizabeth Ann Hart (David) of Mechanicsburg, Carrie Lynne Miller of Pottstown, Nathan William Hart (Jeff) of Pittsburgh, and Amanda Leigh Poffenberger (Charlie) of Virginia; his brother, Larry Hart (Sheryl) of Tower City; his sister, Patricia Brassington, South Carolina. He was the proud grandfather of Winston Poffenberger and Maeve Miller. Bill is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM from the Lykens United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Lesher officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church. Following services at the church, Bill will be laid to rest with his wife Linda in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Bill's name can be made to Lykens U.M. Church, 527 N. Second Street, Lykens, PA 17048.

Bill, you have secured your final beachhead. You are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
