William Haskin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Generations Funeral Home & Crematory - Tomahawk on Dec. 27, 2025.
William "Bill" Haskin was born March 15, 1939, in Wausau, WI, the day after his grandfather's death and, thus, was named after his grandfather. His father was Franklin DeForest Haskin and his mother was Dorothea Emma Anna Sielaff Haskin. Bill had one brother named Richard Wilbert Haskin who was only two years his senior.
Bill passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, with most of his family attending him in his final two days. Bill married Patricia E. Foley Casey on July 24, 1970; she survives, along with four children who survive: Timothy, with wife Judith Knippel, Jon, with Kathy Mullen, Catherine (Kelly), with Jeff Gutowski, and Christopher, with wife Kristine Koch. Bill is further survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his half sister, Dorothy Ellen, and brother, Richard. Bill was the last surviving family member of his generation.
He was a graduate of Wausau High School in 1957. While in high school, he worked for his father in Tastee Treat food business and Wagner's Gas Station on 6th Street. He entered the Army when duty called in 1962, serving in Okinawa with flights to Vietnam prior to the war, discharged in 1964, and returned home. He then went to work at Wausau Monument Company. When he discovered his family in 1968, he added to his employment as a bartender at Days Bowl-a-Dome.
Bill sold insurance for a short time, did carpentry work building and remodeling homes, cabinetmaker, truck driver, custodial supervisor at NCTC, and an entrepreneur of two successful businesses of which Tomahawk Monument Company currently survives in the hands of his eldest son. Bill's passions were his family, faith, business, motorcycling, and fishing.
He had granite dust in his boots and serviced many families in both the Wausau and Tomahawk area and beyond with his artistic talent. His designs and work are on many cemetery memorials throughout Wisconsin.
He survived many capers in his younger days such as the motorcycle ridden through the halls of Wausau High School; trading motorcycles on the highway speeding north. Bill was the timer at the Rib Mountain Racetrack where he cultivated many roughneck ideas. He was a faithful friend to many and a loyal and loving husband and father. In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be made to Tomahawk Public Library in Bill's name.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
