William Houston "Bill" Haynes Jr. died unexpectedly on Friday evening, December 8, 2023, in Eagleville, TN at the age of 73.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Haynes; his children Lisa Dulcinea Morrow, William Jackson "Jack" Haynes, and Dena Kathleen Strohl; and his grandchildren Kimberly Morrow, William Morrow, Brody Gaither, Samuel Haynes and Ethan Haynes. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Houston Haynes Sr. and Frances Louise Haynes.
Bill was born on August 4, 1950, in Lewisburg, TN. He married Kathy on July 2, 1970, and graduated from MTSU with a bachelor's degree in history and political science in 1973. Bill and Kathy moved to Pleasant View where they raised their three children. Bill worked the majority of his career as a financial consultant at Mitchell, Haynes and Associates in Ashland City, TN.
Family and friends remember Bill as a caring and gentle man with a deep resonating voice and warm smile at the ready. He frequently read scripture at church and enjoyed using his musical gifts singing on the worship team.
Bill was passionate about his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren out on the farm corralling the chickens, driving the tractor and playing fun made-up games. He was an avid tennis and pickleball player with quick hands and a deadly drop shot and made time to play many rounds of doubles with friends. Bill and Kathy spent many joyful years taking trips together to the beach in Florida. He enjoyed tending to the family farm and was currently building a new home on the land with the help of his son, Jack.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, January 7th at Church of the Redeemer. 920 Caldwell Ln in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be 2 PM at the church, followed by a memorial service at 3PM. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Andrew DeFusco with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill's life.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Church of the Redeemer and reference "In memory of Bill Haynes." Condolences can be sent to Kathy Haynes at 277 Spring St. Eagleville, TN 37060.

I remember when I was between jobs, Bill hired me to deliver grandfather clocks for him. It didn't last long, but I always was grateful for the opportunity he gave me to bridge the gap between careers.

I am so happy Bill sought me out to become an Insurance Agent for Mitchell-Haynes eleven years ago. We became good friends throughout the years and he was always encouraging me. I would have never considered going through such intense training at 55 years old for anything or anyone else! He has an amazing family and I love how he always talked so lovingly about his wife, Kathy. He will be missed so much, but I know he is with our Lord and Savior right now. Well done, good and faithful Servant! Susan Donato

Bill was my first cousin, my dad's brother's son. He was the first grandchild born to our grandparents. I am so thankful for Bill's life, for the childhood memories we made growing up. Just recently, Bill took my brother out to eat. My brother and I appreciated this kindness more than I can express. I will always be thankful, also, that my husband, Ronnie, my brother, Mark, and I, got to visit with Bill and Kathy in the fall. We will always cherish that memory.
