William B. "Bill" Hershey, III, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 79. Loving husband of Sandra L. Johnson; cherished son of Marion Volpe and the late William B. Hershey, Jr.; dear brother of Maralyn Hershey; stepfather of Jessica (Brian) Simpson; step-grandfather of Jonah and Eliana Simpson; and beloved friend to many. Bill is also preceded in death by sister, Amber Lanier.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Musicians Union 2-197, Theatre Musicians Union, Board Member of St. Charles County Symphony, Board member of Town and Country Symphony Orchestra. 

Bill was a lifelong golfer, beginning as a caddie at a Country Club and continued playing his entire life up until a few weeks ago. Bill will always be remembered as an accomplished trumpet player. He played in many churches and musicals, as well as Taps for veterans. During his term of service in the Vietnam Era, he was in the Army band and played on the White House steps and Arlington National Cemetery. He continued the tradition of playing Taps for veterans at Jefferson Barracks after moving to the St. Charles area. Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
