William 'Billy' Alvin Hester, Jr. was born on July 23, 1944 in Monroe, Georgia to the late William Alvin Hester, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Adcock Hester. Mr. Hester was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Todd Hester; brother-in-law, Gene Shumate.

Billy was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, as a young boy. He served in the Georgia National Guard for 8 years. He was employed by The Home Depot as a store manager for 25 years at various locations throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan area.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing courses throughout the United States. He enjoyed landscaping, antiquing, and reading about World History. He loved his family and friends, who meant a great deal to him.

Surviving members of his family are loving wife of 28 years, Kay Hester; sister, Mary Hester Shumate; brother, Mike Hester (Deborah); sister-in-law, Donna Robinson Deal (Dr. Judson Benjamin Deal); nephews, Barry Shumate (Kim), Robert Tyson Deal (Heather), Benjamin Bradford Deal (Karla); niece, Tara Hester Dobbs (Jimmy).

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Harmony Baptist Church in the sanctuary from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow on the same day at 1:00 PM at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brant Callaway, Rev. Gordon Robinson, and Rev. Scott Rodgers speaking.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harmony Baptist Church of Monroe or the American Heart Association.

Meadows Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
