William Hettinger Obituary

William Samuel Hettinger, 95, of Falls Church, VA passed away on June 11, 2025. He was born April 22, 1930, in New York, NY to the late Laura M. Hettinger. He married Mary Kathryn Clute on February 5, 1955. Their marriage lasted until her death in March 2021. He grew up in Albany, NY and later moved to Long Island, NY and Falls Church. He graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush, NY in 1947 and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 1951. He had a long career in the defense industry for Grumman Aerospace. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Chantilly National Golf & Country Club in Centreville, VA. He was also active in the Bailey's Crossroads Rotary Club. He is survived by his sons, William S. Hettinger Jr., James Hettinger and Michael Hettinger; grandchildren, Laura Hettinger, Jessica Dinsdale and Paige Hettinger; and great-grandchildren, Alanna Dinsdale, Sabrina Dinsdale, Felicity Dinsdale and Helen Dinsdale. Funeral services will be held on June 17 at 10 a.m. at the Everly Funeral Home, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA.
