Youngstown, OH – William "Boyd" C. Hird, 64, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2025.
Born on December 28, 1960, in Youngstown, Boyd was the son of the late Robert G. Hird Sr. and Helen M. (Kearney) Hird.
Boyd graduated from Struthers High School in 1979. He spent his entire career working for the road department of Poland Township, a job he truly loved. Boyd took great pride in his work, serving his community and getting to know the people of Poland. He retired proudly, having spent his life doing what he loved.
Boyd was a man of generous spirit and a big heart. He was known for opening his home to many throughout the years. He had a passion for motorcycles and especially enjoyed attending bike weeks-most memorably in Daytona, where he married the love of his life, Carol Ann, during an unforgettable trip. Together, they created countless memories at Crystal Lake Campground and loved camping each year at the Canfield Fair.
He is survived by his nephew, Leon Hird (Hillary Kane) of Struthers; his niece, Cierra Hornyak (Mason) of Struthers; two brothers, John "Jack" Hird of Poland Township and Robert "Bob" G. Hird Jr. (Marilee) of Poland. He also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his beloved wife, Carol Ann, Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward "Kook" Hird, Howard "Howie" Hird, and Donald "Donny" Hird; one sister, Virginia "Sis" Hird; and his sister-in-law, Susan Hird.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street, Struthers, OH 44471. Following the calling hours, the family would like to extend an invitation to The Rod Tavern, 3726 Loveland Rd. Youngstown, Ohio 44502 for a meal and time of gathering.
