Wow, I´m so sad to read this! Mr. Hodapp was such an awesome guy! I was actually just telling my husband something I remembered him telling me (he was a clever fella indeed) and decided to google him. He was a very kind man. Full of so much wisdom and wit! I will have a cup of tea tonight in his honor. May he rest well!

Bill's personality sparkled . . . .

I saw Bill these past two years hanging out at the Seven Hills Senior Living Facility where I visited my kindergarten teacher, Anna. Bill's personality sparkled. When I walked into the dining room of the facility, Bill emphatically beckoned me sit next to him. "Dear, sit right there." He liked to call me "dear". Bill absorbed himself during meals reading the comics of the daily paper. He said he subscribed to the paper solely for the comics; that the most important news of the newspaper was the comics; that you learned everything you needed to know from the comics; that he cut the comics out and mailed the comics to his grandchildren as a learning tool - he said they were having a bit of a time in school. I thought, hey wait a minute, Bill's grandchildren must be in their 50's!
I pointed out that I failed to understand the funniness of most funnies; that my husband told me he didn't know why he wasted his time telling me jokes, because I rarely got them. At the dinner table, next to Bill, sat an ardent cartoonist. I asked the cartoonist had he seen Laurel and Hardy's "The Music Box"? Yes he had and we both laughed about the gags in the comedy. I said Laurel and Hardy reruns were broadcast every Saturday morning on network TV; that even though my husband had seen "The Music Box" fifty times, whenever the episode came on, I could hear him from the other room laughing. Jealous he missed out on watching the comedy Bill said he badly wanted to see "The Music Box". Since the facility didn't have network television, only cable, I told Bill there were a hundred Laurel and Hardy episodes on Youtube.com, where he could find the "The Music Box".
Just to make sure Bill got to watch "The Music Box" I emailed him the url of the episode from Youtube.com, plus urls of thirty other Laurel and Hardy episodes - and, to be doubly sure Bill watched "The Music Box" I loaded those urls onto a flashdrive. The last time I saw Bill, a month ago, I stopped to visit him with the flashdrive. Bill thanked me -"You are a dear." Bill, you are too.
