William (Bill) Eugene Hon (84), a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away on January 25, 2024 in San Diego, CA.
Bill was born to Elmer and Dorothy (Stinson) in Kansas City, Missouri on August 20, 1939. He graduated Salutatorian from Ballard High School in 1957 and immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for 22 years. Bill valued this service highly and attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. As part of this service, he performed duties as an Electronics Technician and served in the Vietnam Conflict.
Bill later earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from San Diego State University.
Bill is survived by 5 brothers (Richard, Arthur, Edward, Robert and Andrew) and a sister (Katherine), his three sons (John, Billy and Jerry) and three daughters (Michiko, Yoko and Yasuko), 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Bill is preceded by his wife Miyoko Hon (Soejima), 2 brothers, Carl and Joseph, sister Rebecca (Cookie) and his parents.
A service honoring the life of Bill will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on April 2, 2024 at 11:30am.
