William “Bill” Joseph Hossbach, 80, resident of Columbia, and retired Lab Analyst for Swarco, passed away on December 28, 2023, at his residence.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Christian Church, 701 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN 38401, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., concluding with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 19. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.

Born July 19, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Martha Hymes Hossbach. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1966. He was a member of the American Legion Post 19 and VFW Post 4969. On October 15, 1966, he married Doris Johnson, the love of his life, enjoying 57 wonderful years together.

In addition to his wife, he survived by his daughter, Debbie (Robert) Petty; granddaughter, Amanda (Ryan) Berlin; grandson, Christopher Hill; brothers, Raymond Alexander, and Daniel (Deb) Hossbach; sister, Annie Walton (Michael Sweet); and great grandsons, Noah Berlin, and William “Willy” Berlin.

Bill was a loyal, faithful, and dedicated man to his Country, his family, and to his friends. Although set in his ways, he also had a soft and gentile side that was caring and giving. There was absolutely no limit of the lengths that he would go to help someone. He will be missed by so many and his precious memory will forever be in our hearts.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or DAVDisabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
