Beloved husband of the love of his life, the late Stella Houghton (Waslewski); loving father of Debbie (Louie) Simental, the late Sherry (Anthony) Simental, William (Mary Anne) Houghton, and the late Dawn Houghton; cherished grandfather of Kelly (Pat) Ligue, Joshua Simental, Ryan (Kenny) Spain, Catherine (John) Gorman, Timothy (Isabel) Houghton, Taylor (Elizabeth) Simental, Nicole Simental, and Thomas (Mary) Bentley and great-grandpa of Austin Houghton, Savannah Ligue, Jackson Spain, Maeve Spain, Henry Spain, Josephine Gorman, Benjamin Houghton, Celeste Houghton and Kayla Ronzio; fond son of the late Timothy Houghton and Vivian Miller; loving brother of Debbi (Paul) Barradas, Sue Houghton, Joe (Theresa) Houghton, the late Honey Houghton and the late Tim Houghton.
He worked tirelessly as a boiler maker throughout his life, always striving to provide for his family. He was known for his kindness, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. His love and dedication to his family will forever be cherished by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he will be deeply missed.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Visitation on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McInerney Central Chapel, located at 4635 S Wallace Street, Chicago, IL. Funeral 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025 from McInerney Central Chapel to St. Gabriel Church, 600 West 45th Street. Mass of the Resurrection 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. There will be NO FORMAL FUNERAL PROCESSION to Resurrection Cemetery. The family will meet dirctly at the cemetery office.
