Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of William Howard on January 24, 2025.  Our sincere condolences to the family and friends. 

On June 27, 1949, William "Shack" Howard was born to the late Sampson & Daisy B. Howard.

 He was proceeded in death by five sisters and one brother. He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 54 years Harriet Howard and through this union four children were born, Kimberly Leary (Stacey), William E. Howard (I'Quon), Tameika Mangham (Miller), and Carla Howard. Five grandchildren Brandon Gibson, Rakem Mangham, Rashard Howard (Miah), Raheem Mangham, and Christopher Carson. 7 great grandchildren Tiani, Dove, Rosie, Leilani, Kasen, Raheem Jr. and Tahir. A great niece whom he cherished as his own Jurnee Nelson. Three devoted nieces

 Chandra McGhee (Sam) Justina Girdner (Terry), Whitney Nelson (Jeffery).

 Two devoted cousins Patricia Laney Comb & Terry Lockett (Vivian). Three sisters Molly Jackson, Maggie Thomas, Lorenda Mitchell and two brothers Eddie L. Jackson (Hattie), and David Howard (San). A devoted Friend Gloria Stone and a host of many nieces and nephews.

 He received his formal education at HA Hunt High. He was a member at Mt. Olive Baptist church. William was a hard working man who pursued a career at Blue bird body company, Norfolk railroad, and B&I Glass company.

 He also was a great entrepreneur in his own Glass installation service around the city. He went above and beyond for his friends and family in there time of need no matter the circumstances. In his spare time he casually enjoyed playing the lottery, listening to his music on beautiful Saturdays, spending time at family gatherings, and making sure he had the best looking Christmas decorations in town.
