William Hubler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel on Dec. 30, 2025.
William Thomas Hubler was a man of deep faith, strong family values, and quiet dedication. As a young man, he first attended church so he could play softball, but through that experience he committed his life to Christ-a decision that guided him throughout his life. After many years of growing in his faith, William passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Savior on December 28, 2025. He was 89.
He was born on July 19, 1936 to the late Ralph E. and Mabel (Dilyard) Hubler in Ashland, Ohio. On August 10, 1957, William married the love of his life, Janet L. Westerfeld. Together they shared 68 wonderful years together creating countless memories, a loving family, and hours of laughter.
William remained actively involved in the church for many years. At Park Street Brethren Church, William worked with the Boys Brotherhood, investing time, care, and mentorship into the lives of young men. After moving to Mansfield, he became a devoted member of The Grace Brethren Church of Lexington, where he faithfully served in many roles, including Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher, and various other positions of service. His commitment to both his faith and his church was steady and lifelong.
Professionally, William devoted 40 years to Ohio Edison. He began his career in the engineering department before transitioning to the commercial sales division, where he remained until his retirement. During his time there, he was also a valued member of the Team Cuisine. William formed lasting friendships and contributed with the same reliability and dedication that defined every area of his life.
William cherished spending time at the Lexington Senior Center with his younger sister, Kay. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing euchre-pastimes that reflected his love for the outdoors, friendly competition, and good company. He was also an accomplished and passionate woodworker, creating many intricate and meaningful pieces that will continue to be treasured by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet Hubler; his children and their spouses: Randall and Joan Hubler, Douglas and Debbie Hubler, and Tracy and Keith Witzky; his grandchildren and their spouses: Nathan; Andrew and Becca; Brittney; Samuel; Shaun and Kerry; and Megan and Edward; eight great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carole Bernard and Kay Williams; and several nieces.
William's legacy of faith, service, craftsmanship, and devotion to family will live on through all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service honoring William's life will be held on Monday, January 5th, 2026 at 2 pm in the mausoleum chapel at Ashland Memorial Park, 1058 US-250, Ashland, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either The Grace Brethren Church of Lexington or to the Lexington Senior Civic Center.
