William Clinton "Bubba" Huff, Jr.,91 entered into the Lord's presence on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at his home in
Lincolnton, Georgia. Born on June 8,1934, in Augusta, Georgia, Bubba was a man whose life was defined by devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his country, his community, and most of all, his family.
Bubba's early years in Augusta were filled with the simple joys of neighborhood life, where he first laid eyes on Helen Beasley, the young lady who would later become his beloved wife of 69 years. His love for his country was unmistakable, as he went before he reached the age of 18 to honorably serve in the US Navy for four years aboard the USS Montrose during the Korean War.
Upon returning to civilian life, Bubba briefly worked for Reeves Electric before he found his calling with the Atlantic Coast Line. Starting as a fireman shoveling coal into the heart of a steam locomotive, his hard work and determination saw him rise through the ranks to become a conductor and engineer. Eventually, he chose to serve as a switchman at the Harrisonville Yard in Augusta, a role that allowed him to spend cherished time with his family.
After 41 years on the railroad, Bubba retired in 1993 and moved with his family to Lincoln County, where he embraced the rural life. His days were filled with the joys of raising cows, goats, pigs, chickens, and tending to his garden. Bubba's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing, a pastime that brought him great peace and happiness.
Bubba's commitment to his community was unwavering. In Martinez, Georgia, he served as a firefighter with the Martinez Volunteer Fire Department. His voice was a proud addition to the choir at the First Assembly of God in Lincolnton, where he was a faithful member and attended until his health failed. His leadership as the former president of the Lincoln County Food Pantry showcased his willingness to serve others, especially in his retirement years.
Those who knew Bubba will remember him as the most likable and benevolent man, always ready to lend a hand. His faith-filled spirit shone brightly through his kind actions and the sacrifices he made for his family and those in need. His legacy is one of love, service, and a commitment to bettering the lives of those around him.
He is preceded in death by his mother (Dorothy Cloud Huff Baker), father (W.C. Huff Sr), his sons (Dennis Michael Huff and Mark David Huff), and siblings (Shirley Huff Prather and Doris Edwards). He leaves behind a devoted wife of 69 years, Helen B Huff, a son W.C. Huff, III (Anne), a daughter, Michelle H Beaver (Rocky), and siblings, Nancy Berzins and Angele Lewis, in addition to eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at First Assembly of God, Lincolnton with services beginning at 2pm. Interment with military honors will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown at 4p.m.
