William R. Hyde, age 86, died November 15, 2025, of failing health.

Bill was born December 23, 1938, in Ogden, Utah to Vera Viella Odd and Wiliam Wray Hyde. He grew up in Kaysville, Utah, with many fond memories of the beauties of the mountains nearby. Those mountains drew him to love hiking and hunting.

Bill served a mission for the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints in Argentina. He spent 6 years in the Air Force Reserves. He worked for the United States Government at Hill Air force Base in accounting and computer software, retiring after 36 years. Upon retirement, he spent 5 years shuttling cars for Avis which took him all over the area and on many road trips that he enjoyed.

Bill married Mary Knight in the Salt Lake LDS temple on September 2, 1965. Together, they lived in Bountiful, Centerville and after retirement, Santa Clara, Utah. The last 3 months of his life were spent in Emmett, Idaho.

Bill had many hobbies throughout his life, including fishing, hunting, camping, restoring old cars (and a fishing boat), panning for gold and off-road exploring. He loved tending to his garden and took pride in his beautiful flowers. He loved to go on vacations with Mary and his son Kevin and other family members. Many of his extended family have fond memories of trips and adventures taken with Mary and Bill.

Bill’s love for research on his computer led him to spend countless hours exploring what he could do and find and learn. He loved genealogy and devoted many of his later years exploring his family tree and researching, documenting and fulfilling hundreds of relative's temple work.

Bill is survived by his grandson, Kaiden Hyde, Brothers-in law: Steve (Gerry) Knight, Eugene Balls, Martin Romero. Stepbrother Wayne (Margie) Warner. Stepsister Jolene (Gary) Kimball. Niece Nellie Boyd and many other nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Serena Warner Hyde, his wife Mary, his son Kevin Hyde, who very recently passed, and his sisters: Nellie Rae Balls, Georgina Romero and Viella (who died as a baby).

The family would like to acknowledge Bill’s many friends in Santa Clara who meant the world to him. Friends that stepped up and helped him through the most difficult times of his life. His ward family that constantly brought bread, invited him to and delivered to him great meals, took him shopping and tended to his medical needs, visited him and genuinely showed unconditional love. Ted Salmon, we thank you for your loving and tender attention to all his daily details for so long. Also for Steve and Gerry (bro and sis in-law) for your loving service and being there for him in his final months.

Graveside Services and interment will be held Monday November 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday prior to services from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Kaysville, Utah.
