William Clifford Hylton, 73, of Hinton, WV passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
Born on February 20, 1950 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Jack Allen and Cora Jane Corkrean Hylton.
Willie, as he was known by his family and friends, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and obtained a Bachelor's degree from Morris Harvey College. He was a US Marine and served three tours in Vietnam and was awarded three purple hearts for his service and bravery. Willie was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time on the river. Mowing the grass was not a chore to him but a hobby. It was easy to see he took great pride in his lawn and landscaping. Some of his favorite hobbies included golfing and cooking. His greatest love was taking care of his daughter with special needs and spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his brother Randy Hylton.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Scott Hylton (Melonie Stewart) of Forest Hill, WV; daughters Shelley Brightwell (Steve) of Charleston, WV and Sarah Hylton of Beckley, WV; brother Larry Hylton of Hinton, WV; sister Rita Hutchens of Piney View, WV; three grandchildren Liz and John Brightwell and Annie Gallagher; three great grandchildren, Colin, Claire and Cara Gallagher.
Cremation services have been provided by Pivont Funeral Home. A private memorial celebrating his life will be held by the family at a later date.
