Avery Daniel Hylton

Derby, Virginia Avery Daniel Hylton – 59 went to be with Jesus on August 17, 2025. During his life, he wore many different hats. He was a Boy Scout Leader, a Cheer dad, a coal miner at heart, and a skilled woodworker. Most of all he was a son, father, uncle, grandfather, and a friend. He was preceded in death by his dad, Hubert D. Hylton of Appalachia. Surviving is his mother, Janie Hylton of Appalachia; 3 sisters, Amy Powers and husband (Bill) William Joseph Powers II of Triangle, VA. Alma Hylton of Corbin KY, and Avis Hylton of Appalachia; mother of his children, Nancy Willis of Appalachia; two children, Peyton Cox and husband Ethan Cox of Coeburn and Billy Hylton of Appalachia, and bonus daughter Faith Hamblin of Nickelsville, VA; two grandchildren, Ezekiel Hylton and Emma Hylton; two nieces, Mary Ellen Powers and husband, Tim Evinger of PA, and Sara Powers of MD; great niece, Elizabeth Evinger. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5-7p.m. at the Appalachia Pentecostal Church with services following officiated by Glen Hylton. Graveside services will take place on Friday, August 22nd, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
