William "Dougie" Douglas Iott, 62, of Bennettsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Dougie was born in Bennettsville, SC on March 7, 1963, son of the late Robert Iott and Minnie Elizabeth Robinson Brown.
He is remembered by his family as a giving and loving soul. An expert carpenter, he loved to work, and he worked hard. His family fondly recalls his funny nature and how he always loved to joke. Above all he loved the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Along with his parents, Dougie was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Iott; sister, Hope Elizabeth Goldston; grandmother, Elise Robinson Miles; step-grandfather, Lauren Benjamin Miles; aunt, Mary Lou Robinson; uncles, Dwight Allen Miles and Lester Edward "Jasper" Miles; and niece, Lauren Iott.
He is survived by his step-sons, Paul Shelton (Tonya) of Siler City and Eddie Shelton (Valerie) of Siler City; step-daughter, Sissy Smith (Chris) of Siler City; brothers, Phil Iott of California and Randy Iott of Bennettsville; aunts, Gearldine Jacobs of Rockingham, Billie "Suzie" Miles of Laurel Hill, and Helen Brown of Georgia; uncles, Ben Miles, Jr. (Michelle) and Lauren "Tom" Needom Miles (Trish), all of Bennettsville; great-aunt, Rose Anderson; and a niece and host of cousins.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 2:00-3:00 pm, at Ghio Church of God of Prophecy, 668 Springhill Church Road, Hamlet, NC.
A Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 pm, with Reverend Dean Dixon officiating.
Burial will be at Ghio Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AANC at NCGSC PO Box 11104 Wilmington, NC 28404.
