William Russell Iser Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on January 12 at Rainbow Arc Hospice in Chicago.
Born and raised in Chicago, William was the eldest son of William Iser and Jan Iser. From a young age, he was a strong athlete, a trait that defined much of his life. He instilled discipline, resilience, and a competitive spirit in his brothers, children, and extended family, leading by example in both strength and determination.
William was a proud big brother to Sandra Passmore, Gregory Iser, Chuck Iser, Laurie Trogden, and Paul Iser. He was a devoted and loving father to Scott, Tiffany, Jenny, Carrie, and Billy Jr., always encouraging them to be strong, confident, and true to themselves.
He had a lifelong love of food and was famous for always finding the cookies, no matter where they were hidden. He would gladly drive any distance for his favorite Vito & Nick’s pizza, a Chicago classic he truly cherished.
In his later years, William became affectionately known as the “Silver fox.” He never missed an opportunity to enjoy a Coca-Cola especially if it came with conversation and the company of a cute blonde, a charm that never left him.
He also shared a special and meaningful bond with his nephew, Gregg Iser, who held an important place in his life.
He will be remembered for his strength, charisma, love of family, and fun spirit. His stories, humor, and presence will live on through all who loved him.
