William "John" Janacone, 92 of Youngstown, Ohio passed away the evening of January 23rd, 2026, at the Masternick Memorial Nursing Home in New Middletown, Ohio.
He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1933, to Benjamin and Mary Ferrazzano Janacone Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virgina F. Criscione-Janacone of 21 years and five brothers, Samuel, Angelo, Richard, James, Benjamin and one sister, Margaret and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and long-time caretakers Patty & Michael.
John was a graduate of Youngstown State University and worked as an Engineer/Fireman for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was an avid gardener who won many awards for his prized garlic varieties. He also had a deep knowledge and love of flowers that adorned the front of his home every spring, summer and fall. Another one of John's favorite pastimes was riding his ATV's in the Allegheny Mountains with family and friends. He also held a life-time membership at the Mahoning Sportsman's Association in Bessemer, Pennsylvania. He will be sadly missed by his lifelong friends including Richard "Birdie" Shaffer, Dave Patton Jr., Bob Gardner and his extended family, Marilou Sabo and her daughters Debbie and Sheri. Everyone who knew John will certainly miss him saying "Well what's your MO"? (short for Modus Operandi)..or "What's the Scoop," each time we got together or talked on the phone.
Calling hours will be held from 9-10:30am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 in Schiavone Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Anthony of Padua Church officiated by Monsignor John Zuraw.
