William "Skip" Johnson, 64, of Chesapeake, Va., formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Dec. 20, 2025, at his home.
A celebration of life eternal will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Skip was born Jan. 28, 1961, in Bar Harbor, Maine, to William F. and Joyce E. (VanSchoyk) Johnson. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1979. On Nov. 7, 1981, he married Karla Vieregge in St. Mary's, Ohio. Skip worked for STIHL Inc. in Virginia Beach for 13 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. Skip was a devoted University of Michigan fan, as well as a loyal supporter of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.
Skip is survived by his father, William Johnson; wife, Karla Johnson; children: Emily (Marc) Cole, William Johnson II, Hannah (Brandon) Hislop and Daniel Johnson; grandchildren: Amelia, Oliver, Mackenzie, Alora and Maverick; step-grandchildren: Riley, Maddie, Annie and Caelyn; brother, Brian (Amy) Johnson; sister, Jennifer (Mark) Sandberg and many nieces and nephews.
Skip was preceded in death by his mother; daughter, Elizabeth Johnson, and brothers: Eric Johnson and Danny Johnson.
