William “Billy” Raymond Johnston, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully September 19, 2025.
Billy was born January 24, 1948, to Bruce and Helen Johnston. He was one of ve children and as a child lived in Copperton, Bluffdale, Riverton and for a short time, in Skagway Alaska. He graduated from Jordan High School and immediately joined the Navy and served from November 1966 to November 1970.
Billy married the love of his life, Kathy Crump on April 30, 1968, and they raised their four children, Brian, Lisa, Jenny and Scott, in Riverton. Billy and Kathy were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on April 30, 2020.
Billy worked hard and had a strong work ethic. He worked as a welder for Buehner Corp for thirty years, rarely missing a day of work and as a foreman, he never expected someone to do something he could not or would not do himself.
Billy loved the fall aka hunting season, and shing. He attended baseball practices and games with Brian and Scott when they were younger, and he continued to attend games with his grandchildren as often as he could. With his girls, Lisa and Jenny, he attended gymnastic meets, sports events and dance recitals. He was a proud grandpa, and he cherished the time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his wife and eternal partner, Kathy, children, Brian (deceased) and Sherrie and their children, Nic (Charnea) and Kaylee (Neil); Lisa and Greg and their children, Brody and Sage (Joseph); Jenny and Todd and their children, Monica and Tyson; Scott and Stephanie and their children, Attlyn (Carter), Zaylin and Daqulyn; great-grandchildren, Jaren, Steven (Cheyenn), Jaden, Ryker, Romey, Woodson, Jaylen and one on the way; his siblings, Butch, Betty (Gary), Jack (Laura); many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lila, his beloved son Brian, and great-grandson Rhett.
The family would like to thank Dad’s many caring providers at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake, home health care workers that have helped throughout the years, and a special thank you to the staff at Monument Health Millcreek for their care, kindness and compassion to Dad and Mom over the last few years.
