William Eugene Jolly, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, left this world for his heavenly home on September 4, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 23, 1948, in Berwick, Maine, Bill was a beacon of faith and joy throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him. He passed away peacefully in
Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bill's life was a testament to service and devotion. A proud Army veteran and a dedicated police officer, he committed his life to the protection and safety of others. His unwavering integrity and courage were the hallmarks of his career, and he was respected by all who worked alongside him. Bill's commitment to his community was matched only by his deep Christian faith, which guided every step he took and every decision he made.
Raised in a large and loving family, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lettie
Jolly; his siblings, Stella Bennett, Francis, Richard, Roy, an z d Ronald Jolly; his cherished son, Eric Jolly; . Despite these profound losses, Bill's spirit never wavered, and he continued to be a source of strength for his family. He is survived by his beloved partner, Glenda Tremaine; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Loy Eversole; his children, Laurie and her husband Nate Campbell, Lynn Rossi, Matthew Jolly, and Robert Jolly; his son and daughter-in-law, Garrett and Angelina Jolly; his sister-in-law, Debbie Bosch; his precious granddaughters, Lacy and Lillianna Jolly; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Sassy who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness.
Those who knew Bill can attest to his selfless nature. He was a man who put the needs of others before his own, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. His sense of humor was contagious, and his laughter could light up the darkest of rooms. Bill's hobbies, such as fishing and shooting, were more than pastimes; they were opportunities for him to bond with friends and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
To encapsulate Bill's life in mere words is a formidable task, for his impact was immeasurable. He was a pillar of his community, a dedicated servant of the Lord, and a beacon of light to all he encountered. As a faith-filled Christian, Bill's life was a reflection of the love and grace he found in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He walked by faith, not by sight, and his journey on earth was a powerful example of living a life anchored in trust and devotion to God.
In his passing, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith. His life was a beautiful illustration of the scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant." As we celebrate Bill's life, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him. Bill Jolly's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
We rejoice in the knowledge that Bill's story does not end here. For in Christ, we have the promise of eternal life, and we hold fast to the belief that we will see Bill again in glory. Until then, let us honor his memory by living lives full of compassion, humor, and selflessness, just as he did. Rest in peace, dear Bill, until we meet again.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
