William “Willie” Don Jones, age 89 of Amarillo, passed from this life on September 18, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
The family will receive guests on Monday evening, September 22nd, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. The funeral will be on Tuesday, September 23, at 10:00 AM at Southwest Church of Christ. Mr. Brian Mashburn and Mr. Zane Perkins will officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
William was born on July 10, 1936, in Carey, Texas, to his parents, Charlie and Elizabeth Thomas Jones. On March 23, 1957, he married the love of his life, the beautiful Fay, also in Childress. That day marked the beginning of a sixty-eight-and-a-half-year love story and adventure.
William was a hardworking and dedicated man, devoted to his family. He constantly strove to set a good example for others and demonstrated that it's never too late to learn—earning his GED at the age of 55. William was giving and kind to all who met him. He knew no strangers and was a blessing to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Dill; and a brother, Wayne Jones.
William is survived by his wife, Fay; his daughter Pam Adams and her husband Randy of Granbury; his son Kenneth Jones and his wife Laurey of Canyon; a brother, Clint Jones of Granbury; five grandchildren, Derrick Adams and his wife Amber, Dustin Adams and his wife Amber, D’nissa Hester and her husband Trace, Cameron Jones and his wife Jennifer, and Tyler Jones and his wife Darymar; ten great grandchildren, Conner Keffer, Kaylei Jones, Aiden Jones, Ryland Jones, Vincent Jones, Caedmon Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Zelda Hester, Emmalee Adams and Easton Adams; special long-time neighbors, Gary and Daphynne Steinkirchner and his faithful canine companion, Cody.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the High Plains Children’s Home or your favorite charity.
