William Jordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home - Rockdale on Jan. 16, 2026.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale, Texas, with visitation at 10:00 am and services to follow at 11:00 am.

William "Bill" Arthur Jordan, age 76, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Bill was born on May 6, 1949, in Big Spring, Texas, to James A. Jordan and Doris (Howell) Jordan.

Bill graduated from Idalou High School in Idalou, Texas, in 1968. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, for two years before deciding to enter the workforce. In 1971, Bill began his career with the State Board of Insurance, where he worked for four years. He later joined Beacon Insurance in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he spent 34 years overseeing mergers and acquisitions. Throughout his career, Bill formed many lifelong friendships across the State of Texas.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved hunting and fishing, especially hunting trips to Brackettville with his brother, Mike, which became a cherished tradition. Bill also enjoyed driving around in his truck, often with a Dr. Pepper close at hand-his favorite drink and a small but constant pleasure he rarely went without.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mike Jordan; and his nephew, Shawn Jordan.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 28 years, Kimberly McCoy Jordan of Thorndale, Texas. He is also survived by his son, Garrett Jordan and fiancée Skylar Schlett of Thorndale, daughters Jennifer Curley and husband Brian of Elbert, Colorado, and Julie Thornbrue of Lubbock, Texas. Bill was a proud grandfather to Jamie Jordan and Tyler Workman of Colorado, and Roscoe Thornbrue of Lubbock, Texas, and a great-grandfather to Aiden Joy of Colorado. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Deanna Jordan of Breckenridge, Texas; niece Shannon Deen and husband Drew of Breckenridge; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bill spent his final 26 days in the care of the Heart Hospital of Austin. By the end of his stay, every nurse knew the story of how Bill and Kimberly met, how large their wedding was, and how deeply he loved Kimberly and Garrett. Bill proudly told the nurses that he was Kimberly's "Stud Warrior," and that Kimberly was his "Xena Warrior Princess."

In accordance with Bill's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. To honor Bill, attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite camouflage.

The Jordan family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Heart Hospital of Austin-Laurence, Mary, Laura, Sarah, Brittany, Dominick, Chaplain Kate, Juan-and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.

Reception to follow at the VFW in Thorndale, Texas.
