So sad to hear that Bill has passed. As a fellow career firefighter, Bill and I enjoyed sharing stories. I met Bill in Dallas, Texas at the annual MVPA convention years ago. He approached me as I had a fresh restoration of a Cushman Airborne Scooter behind my tables in the vendor area. He asked why it was not on display? I explained I was not one to compete for recognition and he replied that he had just judged the scooters on display and mine was the best and most complete he had seen at the show. That's how we met. Great guy. Always shared with me scooter tidbits. I had been calling his number leaving messages not knowing he had past and only found out while on a 2nd Armored trip in France in July where a Belgian collector/dealer ran into me and told me. I will never forget Bill, for his advise, expertise and friendship. One of a kind....RIP Bill......Jon Shoop, St Louis, Missouri

Bill, this came much of a shock to us. We didn't know. And we're sorry. Thank you for the memories you shared with us back then. The breakfast, the house tour and the ride. And Brenda, please stay strong. We send our love and condolences to you in this time of grief. We love you. May Bill rest in peace.

We are so sorry Brenda. Bill was such a nice guy. I also saw a display of his airplanes at Aztar one time, besides at the airport. It seems he had Jeeps also. You have our Deepest Sympathy. We will not be able to attend because we will be at Donna Hicks Winchell's funeral, held at the very same time, only in Tell City. Two dear classmates being buried on my 73rd birthday will be a difficult day. We will be there is spirit. God Bless your family. RIP Bill.

As so many people know, Bill was a wonderful person, and a great friend. He was always among the first people to volunteer when the Evansville Military Collectors Club needed it. Whether it was setting up tables and chairs, taking his turn doing security for one of our shows, or anything else he was there.
Bill help me several times at the ESGRs annual event, by displaying his wonderful Ford Jeep that he was so proud of. He and I had both set up at other locations to share our items with the public and help educate them about the items and how they were used.
As others have stated, Bill was very knowledgeable about so many things related to Evansville's WW2 history, Military gear, and so many other things.
And he was always happy to help others with the information that he knew or by sharing the many reference books about the things that he loved.
When I joined the club back in the 1980s, Bill as one of the group that made me feel very welcome as a member, even though I was very young at the time.
To say that Bill will be missed is somewhat of an understatement. He was one of those people that I felt would be around forever, and now that he is gone, wish I would have spent much more time with him.
We will all miss his knowledge, his expertise, and his helpful hands.
But I know that I will miss my friend, my buddy and his very kind and gentle way.

Rest well my friend, until we meet again.

God Bless you Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss.
And, I am sorry to say that I do not know you well, but if I can be of any help to you please let me know.

To Bill's family, especially Larry!
I remembered Bill as a young kid growing up with us at East Side Christan Church. Their mother was the cog that kept the church running for years and years!

Bill became member #5 when he joined the Evansville Military Collectors Club at its inception. His passion for Evansville's WWII Homefront history was second to none. He was always willing to share his knowledge and love of our Nation's military with those beginning their collection. Club members will be among many who miss Bill dearly as a friend and as a mentor.
