William Dean "Bill" Kahle passed peacefully at his home in Kingsville, PA on May 14, 2024, following an extended illness.
Bill was born a "firecracker" on July 4, 1941 in Mechanicsville, PA to the late William H and Virginia M Fowler Kahle.
He married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Johnston, on June 25, 1960 and they raised four children, Kelly and her husband, Joe Simonette of Meadville, PA, Mark and his wife, Kim, of Summerville, PA, Michael and his wife, Susan, of Summerville, PA, and Thomas and his wife, Darla of Dubois, PA. Bill loved working on his farm, raising beef cattle, quarter horses and the famous "Kahle" sweet corn for much of his life. No one could ever say that he was not a hard worker.
After graduating from Clarion Limestone High School, Bill attended college in Cleveland, OH, to become a phlebotomist. He worked as a lab technician and in X-Ray at the old Clarion Hospital on Seventh Avenue. He also worked for Ray Karl Drilling, built steel buildings, and ultimately retired from Owens Illinois, after 33 years working in the forming department. While he stopped working, he never slowed down, serving his community as an EMT at Clarion Hospital from 2004 until 2008, served on the Clarion Limestone School Board from 1979 until 1983, and drove school bus for many years. He was also a volunteer with the Limestone Fire Department. In their retirement years, Bill and Sue were snowbirds in Ocala, Florida where they enjoyed going to auctions, playing cards with friends, and visiting the many horse farms in the area.
Bill was a founding member of Cornerstone Church of Clarion, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.
Bill was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He was especially proud of the trophy buck he shot in 2020, which ended up being the last year he was able to hunt.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Carol, an infant brother, and his in-laws, Robert and Helen Johnston. He is also survived by his sister, Anita and her husband, Joseph "Pete" Hall of St. Augustine, Florida. He was loved as Grandpa Bill by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Corey Hankey and his wife Shannon and daughters, Kessler and Livy of Salt Lake City, Utah, Crista and her husband Tim Anderson and children Hank and Emmy of Albany, Oregon, Elijah Kahle and his wife Kelsi and daughters Carli and Ellie of Lucinda, PA, Malachi Kahle and his wife Bekah of Clarion, PA, Eden and her husband Travis George of Pittsburgh, Nathan Kahle of Pittsburgh, Josh and his wife Jaleigh Kahle of State College, PA, and Jeremy Kahle of Dubois, PA, along with nieces and great nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his little yorkie-poo, Tess.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at Cornerstone Church of Clarion in Shippenville, PA. There will be a viewing at 10 am at the church, followed by a memorial service at 11 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion.
The family would like to extend thanks to the many friends who supported and prayed for Bill and all of the wonderful staff at Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, especially his special nurse Trudy, for the excellent care he received. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bill's name to the Clarion Forest VNA.
Bill's legacy of hard work and providing for his family, his boundless faith, and his friendly smile will be missed greatly, but we know that heaven is a brighter place now.
