In loving memory of William G. Kane, 80, who passed away suddenly on Monday, August 7, 2023. William was a loving husband, devoted father and cherished Pop-Pop to his entire family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Dorothy W. Kane and his three children and their spouses Dr. Bryan G. and Dr. Kathleen Kane, Kimberly L. and Brian Palmer, and Andrew C. and Lauren Kane. He is also survived and deeply missed by his seven grandchildren Sarah, Alexander, Mackenzie, William, Elizabeth, Victoria and Henry.
Bill was born in Philadelphia in 1943 to the late Wheldon and Margaret Kane. He graduated with BS and Masters Degrees in Education from Temple University and taught in the Philadelphia Public and Archdiocese School Districts for 38 years. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1961-1969. He and Dorothy have resided in Buckingham, Pa for the past 50 years.
Bill was heavily involved in scouting his whole life. He was an Eagle Scout and went on to serve as Troop Leader and Camp Director for Big Springs and Great Bend at Ressica Falls Scout Reservation, as well as spending the last few decades worth of summers as Head Commissioner of Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco. In addition to scouting, Bill loved being a part of the Masons Lodge 245 in Doylestown. He loved to travel especially to spend time at the beach in Cape May and at his home at Saylor's Lake. Of course his number one past time was spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Bill will be remembered by the many friends whose lives he has touched throughout his extraordinary life. He will be loved, missed and remembered by Dorothy and his children. He will be forever Pop-Pop to his grandchildren. Bill was the very definition of a life well-lived.
A memorial service will be held at Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 E. Swamp Road, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive their friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org would be appreciated.

Softly falls the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently, each Scout should ask
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Oh, have I done and have I dared Everything to be prepared?

Yes Bill you have. Rest easy and thank you.

May the Great Scoutmaster of all Scouts be with us until we meet again

To Bill Kane´s Family
I was so sorry to hear of Bill´s passing. He was always a kind and good friend. We both had evening classes at Temple. He frequently drove me home so that I didn´t have to take public transportation. On the way we would talk about our families and teaching experiences. My sister´s family were your neighbors too. My sister Helen Lutz sends her condolences also.
