William "Bill" G. Kartsonis, 70, of Lake Winnebago, Missouri has fallen asleep in the Lord, peacefully surrounded by family after his 15 year battle with colon cancer.
Bill was born November 10, 1952 to George and Edith Kartsonis in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Lee's Summit High School in 1970, he attended the University of Missouri, earning a degree in Public Administration. Here he met Jan Diane Godt and they married in November of 1974, relocating for Bill's first job as a multi county government administrator in Humboldt, Nebraska for 2 years. Bill worked for the state of Iowa for 2 years where they lived in Des Moines.
In 1978, Bill joined the family business, moving to Kansas City. They purchased their first home at Lake Winnebago in 1978 and later moved to their dream lake front home in 1984 where Bill and Jan raised their two boys, Matthew and David. Bill always made time for his family. He was a man of integrity, faith and family. He loved his time on the lake skiing, fishing, swimming and watching the Herons and Mallards. He loved coaching their soccer teams, wrestling, being a Boy Scout leader, family vacations and encouraging them on all endeavors and activities.
In 1978, Bill started working at Superior Linen, now a 4th generation family business. He enjoyed working side by side with his family. Jan, aka "Mother Superior", started working in the office in 1990. Matthew came on board in 2001 and David joined shortly after in 2004. Bill and Jan loved making memories: traveling to Italy, the Netherlands and Hawaii both for the business and pleasure, and maybe touring a laundry here and there.
As a life long member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Bill shared his love of his faith teaching Sunday School and serving as a member of the Parish Council. As said by a friend that best describes, those who knew Bill know that he was a man of great faith in God and he was quick to share that faith and encouragement with others.
He served on the Cass County Committee representing Lake Winnebago, serving as the Cass County (MO) Republican Committee Chairman as well as serving on several State committees. In 2020, he was a proud member of the Electoral College.
His greatest accomplishment was his family who were always his top priority.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Kartsonis and his son, David Kartsonis. He is survived by his wife Jan Kartsonis, son Mathew Kartsonis (Jennifer), daughter in law Georgia Kartsonis and his granddaughters Maria and Andriana Kartsonis who were his pride and joy; sister Carol Lillis (Jim) and Greg Kartsonis.
The visitation will be from 4:30-7pm on Thursday, May 18th, followed by the Trisagion service at 7pm, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. https://annunciationkc.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6802792cb9fcf9e421252ad96&id=946e5296e5&e=09ec4d27a5
Funeral services will be at 10am, Friday, May 19th at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave. in Kansas City, Missouri 64131. https://www.google.com/maps/search/6901+Troost+Ave?entry=gmail&source=g
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Annunciation Philoptochos Chapter or Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
May his memory be everlasting!
