Erna Phillips, 100, of Raytown, Missouri passed away on November 10, 2025. Erna, the daughter of John J. and Lydia (Weller) Eiseman was born June 4, 1925, on the family homestead 4 ½ miles south of Eureka, South Dakota.
She attended county school and worked on the family farm. Erna was baptized on September 13, 1925, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka, on March 17, 1940, by Pastor P.A. Hinricks.
She came to Kansas City and worked at Pratt & Whitney until the end of the war. She then went to work at T.W.A. There she met her husband John “Jack” Phillips. They were united in marriage on October 29, 1948, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church and is survived by her daughter Stephanie Freiberg of Dublin, Ohio, and daughter in law Mary Phillips, of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by three sisters Deloris Strepman of Denver, Colorado, Shirley (Bruce) Drury of Bettendorf, Iowa and Brenda Marquart of Fargo, North Dakota. Five grandchildren Jessica (Brett) Carter, Travis (Kim) Phillips and Shyla Phillips, Jim (Sabrina) Freiberg and Brett (Ashley) Freiberg. Seven great-grandchildren: Grace & Jackson Freiberg, Gavin Johnston, Bennett Carter, Kason & Adelyn Phillips and Vivian Freiberg.
Erna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 9:30 until the time of service at 10:30, at Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. If you so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Erna's memory.
