William Kerr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scot Ward Funeral Services - Conyers on Feb. 15, 2026.
William Roger Kerr, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 after a brief illness. Roger graduated from Cohn High School in Nashville Tennessee and was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam war.

Roger loved to talk about his time in the military. Not the misery of Vietnam, but the few good times and brothers that he served with. His only request was to be buried near others who served.

Roger loved talking. His stories, anecdotes, and yarns were a huge part of his personality. If you ever spent time with Roger you know this to be true. Silence was not a virtue for Roger.

Roger was a 30-year AT&T technician. He loved AT&T and his time there, having assembled a group of dear friends and a community. Applying lessons learned in the military.

Roger was the big brother to his sister, Sue Harper (Brian), who survives him. Sue and Roger shared many adventures together and loving times and memories. She will always love and miss her big brother.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Cocroft Kerr, parents Thomas and Gladys Kerr, brother Eddie Kerr, half brothers Bobby Kerr, Phillip Kerr and Tom Shacklett and his step grandson Nicolas Trexler. Married late in life, Roger and Peggy built a life based on church, good food and traveling the world. Roger loved life and was always happy to lend a hand to anyone needing his help.

Roger and Eddie loved shared adventures on their Harley Davidsons, boating and a fascination with weapons and firearms of all sorts.

Roger is survived by Stepdaughter Carol Esz, Stepson Steven Cocroft and his wife Nancy Cocroft. Stepson Michael Cocroft and his wife Pilar Cocroft. Step grandchildren Andrew Cocroft, Kelly Cocroft, Emily Hubbard, Laura Cocroft and Carlton Wyatt Cocroft.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Jill Ulrici officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
