William King Obituary

William Noah "Will" King

March 7, 2008 – April 30, 2024

William Noah King, known as Will, of Ellerbe, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Will was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Kristi Richardson King and William David King, Jr. During the 16 short years we had Will, he made an impact on everyone he met.

After moving several times throughout his life, he and his mom came home to Ellerbe and Will felt he found "his people". Will was often described as a "character". He loved to have a good time, loved to fish, loved a bonfire, he loved his friends and he loved even BIGGER! He enjoyed life to its fullest. If you were his friend, you knew it. He never hung up the phone or walked out the door without saying I love you, and he meant it.

Will loved spending time with younger kids, teaching them how to do things and playing with them. As an only child, he knew how valuable that time was.

Will was a true mama's boy. He always had a smile on his face, and his voice could light up any room. To say he was charming was an understatement. His beautiful brown curls, which took him an hour to fix every morning, and big blue eyes will never be forgotten.

He loved sports, especially the Carolina Tarheels. He was born into it and had been attending games since before he could walk. He loved baseball, especially playing for the Marlboro Academy varsity baseball team. And he loved all things Boston, the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins.

Will was a sophomore at Marlboro Academy where he was a three-year member of the baseball team and two-year member of the sporting clay team. He was recently inducted into the National Honor Society and was also a member of the National Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact Club, Media Club and for the past two years earned a spot on the Headmaster List's (all A's). Will was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hamlet Youth Group.

Will was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Margaret Richardson and his paternal grandfather, William David King, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Kristi Richardson King (Jim) of Ellerbe; his father, David King, Jr. (Anna) of Trinty, Florida; grandmother; Linda King of Rockingham, aunt Shelia McInnis (Todd), cousins, Maxine Defoe (Ryne), Samantha Mcinnis (Brandon), Luke McInnis, Charleigh Mcinnis, Saige McInnis, and his loving dog Winston.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at the Robert L. and Elizabeth S. Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College in Hamlet with Pastor Allison Farrah officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Church cemetery, 861 Grassy Island Road, Ellerbe. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.

In lieu of flowers, it is their request that donations be made to the William Noah King Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/o Richmond Community College, P.O. Box 1189, Hamlet, NC 28345.
