William “Bill” Orville Kirby, 77, of Pacolet, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on September 21, 1946, in Pacolet Mills, SC, the son of the late Wilson and Bonnie Connor Kirby. 

Bill is a member of First Baptist Church – Pacolet and served in the SC National Guard. He retired from BASF Chemical Company with over 30 years of service and later worked for Alternator Exchange for several years. A few of his favorite hobbies were fishing, playing golf, and gardening.

Bill was a devoted husband and father. Spending time with his family was the most important thing to him. He will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Hopper Kirby; his daughters, Amy Kirby Lee (Kevin) of Spartanburg and Mia Kirby Gault (Shannon) of Pacolet; his four grandchildren, Collin Gault (Emily), Lydia Gault, Jesse Lee and Abby Lee; and his sister, Judy Kirby of Pacolet. Bill was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Thomas, and a special nephew Josh Miller.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at First Baptist Church-Pacolet, 310 West Main Street, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Tyler Ridings and the Rev. Tommy Sparks. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church-Pacolet, 310 West Main Street, Pacolet, SC 29372
