William Komar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Red Mountain Funeral Home on Jul. 16, 2024.
William "Bill" Komar passed away on July 4, 2024 in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 85. He was born on March 5, 1939, in Tarrytown, New York. William stayed close to his birthplace as he raised 4 boys in Pleasantville, NY. He worked for more than 30 years at the General Motors plant in Tarrytown until his retirement in 1990 at age 51. Upon retiring he took up residence near the beach in NJ and then Florida where his days were spent exercising, cooking, and reading. In the early 2000s, he moved to Green Valley, AZ to be closer to his grandkids in Arizona and California. He will always be remembered for his thoughtful, often handmade gifts, for his grandkids – he tried to be at every birthday in person, leaving his grandkids with very special memories of their grandfather. William is preceded in death by his wife Gail Komar and brother Ron Komar. He is survived by his brother Bruce Komar; children William (Bill) Komar, Gary Komar, Ray Komar and Chris Komar; grandchildren Jessica McCrellis, Cailin Komar, Cade Komar, Devon Komar, Colton Komar, and Laney Komar; and 1 great-grandchild Mia McCrellis. Per William's wishes, no funeral service will be held. In the event you wish to reach the family, they can be reached at [email protected].
