William Lagun Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Funeral Home - Fanwood on Dec. 30, 2025.
William A. Lagun Sr., affectionately known to many as Dad, Harve, Mr. Bill, Sonny, or Papa, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2025 in Pittstown, NJ. Born in Kearny and raised in Union, he later made his home in Rahway, where he devoted himself to raising his beloved children.
An exceptional man, Mr. Bill embodied the phrase "jack of all trades" and mastered most of them. As a Master HVAC Technician, he had a remarkable knack for constructing and repairing, often creating something extraordinary from nothing. His talents extended beyond his profession; he shared his passion for life with his family through countless adventures. Whether attending car shows, motorcycle rallies, exploring boatyards, or enjoying time in the backyard, he filled their lives with joy and discovery.
Sonny believed that true wealth comes not from financial means but from a lifelong desire to learn and grow. He instilled this value in his children, teaching them that knowledge and experience are the greatest treasures one can possess. Known for his perfectionism, he often remarked, "If you can feel it, you can see it," while meticulously working on bodywork for his cars, a testament to his attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Harve will be remembered for his devoted spirit, and the invaluable lessons he imparted to his family. He leaves behind a world enriched by his presence and a family forever grateful for the time spent together. His memory will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Will, his wife Melissa, and Phil; grandchildren, Tyler, Karlee, Jake, Cody, Alex, Kaitlyn, Samantha, and Lydia; as well as his sister, Nadia, her husband Tony Strutynskyj, their children, Anton, Nina, and Andy; and daughter in law, Wendy Hammer.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday January 17th, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm with a service beginning at 3pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave Fanwood NJ 07023. In tribute to Mr. Bill's blue-collar spirit, the family requests that all attendees wear his favorite attire: a pocket t-shirt and jeans.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Quakertown Fire Company or Wounded Warrior Project.
