William Laity, a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on December 4, 1936, in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania, William lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and his country.
William's journey began in a small town where he cultivated a quiet yet caring demeanor. After serving honorably in the United States Army, he returned home with a sense of pride and commitment.
He dedicated his career to the United States Postal Service, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement.
In 1963, William married his beloved wife, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a loving home filled with love, warmth, and an abundance of cherished memories. His family was his greatest treasure, and he took pride in being a father to his son, Glenn Laity, and daughter, Melissa Erpelding. William was a devoted father-in-law to Brittani Laity and Brad Erpelding, welcoming them into his family with open arms.
William's legacy continues through his grandchildren, each of whom was a source of immense joy and pride for him. He is survived by Joshua Laity, Aaron Laity, Caleb Laity, Olivia Laity, Natalie Grills, Ashley Grills, Alic Erpelding, Alesyn Erpelding-Schaar, and Lindsey Laity. His love for them was boundless, and he took great delight in watching them grow.
His life, however, was not without sadness. William was preceded in death by his beloved son, Mark Laity, whose memory will forever resonate in the hearts of his family. This loss was a profound chapter in William's life, but it only strengthened his bond with those who remained and brought them closer together.
A faithful member of the Antioch Bible Baptist Church, William was a man of strong faith who believed in the importance of community. His quiet presence in the congregation reflected his character; he was faithful and kind, always ready to lend a helping hand.
William Laity's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 8, 2025 at Antioch Bible Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
In remembering William, we honor a man who will live on in our hearts.
