William (Bill) Oliver Langlitz, 86, of Flora Vista, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Bill, the oldest of four siblings, was born on February 17, 1938 in Seminole, Texas to the late Gertrude (Nana) and William Langlitz. Bill was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was active in Boy Scouts and raced Micro Midget race cars with his Dad and brother Dennis. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1957. Bill joined the Army National Guard in April 1961 and served until December 1968. Bill married his bride, Nancy Berkstresser, in 1962. William had three children Leonard, Randy, and Seretha.
Bill and Nancy have lived in Flora Vista, New Mexico since 1976 when Bill, an iron worker, went to work for the San Juan Power Generating Plant. He and his wife Nancy were passionate about their faith as Christians and both served in many capacities at their church, FBC Bloomfield. Bill was an accomplished welder with a full shop on their property and he could often be found working on "projects" for his many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 2023 after 61 years of marriage, sister Mozelle Trembly, and brother Dennis Langlitz. He is survived by his sister Sandra and husband David Cecil of Allen, Texas, son Leonard and wife Patsy Langlitz of Albuquerque, son Randy and wife Toni Langlitz of Flora Vista, daughter Seretha Langlitz of Alameda, California; ten grandchildren-Tyson (Christine) Langlitz, Leanna Langlitz, Justin (Sarah) Langlitz, Christopher Langlitz, Lindsay Langlitz, Caleb Langlitz, Shayna Langlitz, Michaela (Christian) Lewis, Savannah Langlitz, and Abigail Langlitz; and eight great-grandchildren Nicholas, Tyler, Lucas, Cooper, Parker, Quintyn, Lucas, and Callista Langlitz.
Services have been scheduled for May 16th at 10:00am located at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, NM. Interment is to follow at the East Hammond cemetery.
