William Lee Duncan, 83, Swayzee, passed away in his home on Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born in Swayzee on September 11, 1938, to John and Mary (Riddle) Duncan. He married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Foland, on November 28, 1959, and again on January 1, 1993.
Bill graduated from Swayzee High School, where he was a star basketball player. He proudly served his country in the Indiana National Guard from 1956 to 1960 and was discharged from the Army Reserve in 1964. Following his military service, he worked at Dana Corp. for 37 years as a supervisor until his retirement in 2000.
In his younger years, Bill loved to fish, bowl, and ride his scooter. He enjoyed music and liked to listen to a variety of music. He also liked to watch old Westerns, as well as play cards and board games with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Duncan of Swayzee; children, Brent (Kimberly) Duncan of Connersville, Lynn (Randy) Blackburn of Hartford City, and Susie (Vicki) Duncan of Fishers; grandchildren, Brittany (Brad) Atkins of Upland, Devyn (Randy) Dewhurst of Waldron, and Clint (Marina) Blackburn of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Branson Duncan, Brooklynn Atkins, Alexander Atkins, Lydia Dewhurst, Gabriel Dewhurst, and Jeramiah Dewhurst; sister, Myrna Duncan of Swayzee; and step-sister, Sharon Beyer of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith Duncan; brother, Obert Duncan; and step-mother, Norma Duncan.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, a funeral service to celebrate Bill's life will take place at the funeral home at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Rogers officiating. Additional visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery.
