William Lestini, RPh of Wheeling, WV, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the age of 91.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on April 29, 1934, to the late Terzilio (William) and Leveda Lestini. After graduating from Bellaire High School in 1952, where he served as senior class president, he attended The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1957. Bill served in the U.S. Military Medical Service Corps, rising to the rank of Captain.
After being discharged from military service, he returned to Bellaire and purchased Duvall Pharmacy serving as owner and pharmacist. During his pharmacy career, along with working with his brother, Joseph, he established Bellwood Incorporated as President, where the brothers oversaw pharmacies in St. Clairsville, Woodsfield and Cambridge, Ohio. Bill was a member of the Ohio Pharmaceutical Association.
He was President of Bell Valley Land Corporation Inc. and Vice President of Bellwood Development Corporation. Bill served as a director on the Board of Directors at Union Savings Bank, later known as First Union, then Bank One of Wheeling, Steubenville. He enjoyed membership in the Stone Chimney Club and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Bill cherished the opportunity to visit Italy many times, where he had the joy of reconnecting with surviving family members. On August 8, 2010, during his time in Italy, he was honored with the designation of "Ambasciatore della Citta di Assisi nell'amata terra Americana" (Ambassador of the City of Assisi in our beloved American land).
He is survived by his loving wife Dolores and their three children, William (Stephanie) Lestini, MD of Raleigh, NC, Alan (Paula) Lestini of Wheeling and Natalie Lestini of Wheeling and his brother, Joseph (Anita) Lestini. He enjoyed a special bond with his grandchildren, including Shanley (JD) Hamby, Lysandra (Will) Slack, Kyle and Nathan. Bill has four great-grandchildren, Liza Parker, Shanley Catherine, John Duncan, Jr., Lane Parker, and one on the way in January.
Bill and Dolores would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in November of this year.
Bill will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends and all who knew him. Known for his gracious servant leadership, he exemplified his faith in the Lord through daily acts of love and compassion. His legacy of kindness and selflessness will forever inspire those whose lives he touched. A faithful and loyal "Fa Fa", as he was called by his grandchildren, had a huge servant's heart and worked very hard to provide for his family since he was ten years old when his father died. The family is thankful that he knew Jesus as his savior, Who promises eternal life to all those who call on His name.
In his final years, he was tenderly cared for by a dedicated team of caregivers, for whom the family is profoundly grateful.Their kindness and professionalism brought comfort and dignity to his life, and we will always cherish their service in our hearts.
Family and friends will be received Monday, July 21, 2025 from 10 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St,. with Fr. Jeeson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or to Catholic Charities of Wheeling in www.tmcfunding.com.
