William Carl Ligon

William Carl Ligon, age 76 husband of Sylvia Reese Ligon, passed away December 26, 2025. He was the son of the late Henry Howard "Jack" and Hilda Sizemore Ligon, a 1969 graduate of Bluestone High School, a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and the Staunton River Hunt Club. Carl learned the trade of tobacco farming at an early age from his Papa Sizemore, and helped on his farm until he was old enough to start his own career as a tobacco farmer. He continued until his health forced him to retire. In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by his son Jonathan Ligon (Holly); sister, Jackie Burnett (Micky); sisters-in-law, Linda Stepanian (Lee), and Nancy Newby; grandchildren, Jase and Jaxton Clary and future July baby. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Monday at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 2526 New Hope Rd, Skipwith Va. 23968. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church.
