William Alan Lindner

Born on January 15, 1969 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, he was a son of Patricia Lynn (Thomas) Carwile and Patrick Andrew Lindner. Alan was a United States Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He served as a Chaplain with the Civil Air Patrol. Alan attended East Texas Baptist University (A.A.), Columbia Bible College (B.A.), and Columbia International University (M.A. in Teaching) with NASA cohort training. He was an 8thgrade science teacher having taught at Hopkins Middle School and later at Newberry Middle School. Alan was a Chaplain/Assistant Scout Master with Troop 1 with the Boy Scouts of America and was the former Vice President with The Missionary Church International. He was ordained by the Full Gospel Chaplaincy and by his home church: Restoration Outreach Church.

Alan had a great love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved his family, and he made sure to lead them in God’s admonition. He was a missionary for Christ across the United States and multiple other countries. Alan planted and assisted ministries in the Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Germany, Brazil, and Paraguay. From helping with medical missions in Samoa to smuggling Bibles into the USSR, he was a dedicated servant and disciple. Alan carried a mission-driven mindset throughout his life, to the extent that he even told his hospice nurse that he was no longer “missionally able and minded” during his battle with cancer.

Between topics of history, military, travel stories, cinema, eclectic music, dad jokes, and his passionate and lovable family, there was never a dull conversation with Alan. He dodged death more than a few times and saw miracles in his life. In 2010, when multiple doctors told him he would need five stints in his heart to survive; prayer and faith ultimately led to healing, and no stints were needed. The cardiologist noted that Alan “had the heart of an athlete.” In his time on earth, he has changed many lives for the better, and he will be deeply missed.

Alan is preceded in death by his father and his step-father Richard Dycus.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Virgie Lamira Lindner; children, Gabriel and Mahala Alan Lindner and Hope Lamira Lindner; siblings, Charles Lindner, Sherisa Kutz, Joseph Price, and Lesley Barker; step-mother Deborah Lindner; and grandson.
