William Bluford "Bill/Billy/Pop" Luke January 18, 1952 – January 2, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Bluford Luke, affectionately known as Bill, Billy, or Pop, who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 72. Bill passed away peacefully at Laurels of Walden in Columbus, Ohio.-
Born on January 18, 1952, in Massillon, Ohio, Bill lived a life full of faith, love, and service. Throughout his years, he touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
Bill graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1971 and went on to attend THE Ohio State University, where he studied Journalism. He later earned a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University. Bill dedicated over 20 years to a fulfilling career as an insurance adjuster for the State of Ohio and served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves for more than 25 years, earning the rank of Sergeant First Class and the admiration of his colleagues and peers.
Outside of work, Bill was deeply passionate about spreading the love of Jesus through public speaking. A lifelong fitness enthusiast and competitive bodybuilder, he inspired others with his dedication to health and well-being. His love for his beloved Massillon Tigers was unmatched, and he could often be found cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm.
Bill is survived by his brother Steve (Lori) Luke; children, Arin (Jasmin) Luke, Jamal Luke, Kayla Luke, and Mariah Luke; his cherished grandchildren, Juan, Jatiana, Joshua, Analisa, David, Justus, London, Jasielle, Mykah, and Amiyah; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Isabela and Jiovanni. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Inez Luke, and his brother, Ricky (Denise) Luke.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Turnpoint Church, 7718 Groveport Road, Groveport, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose legacy was built on faith, love, and service to others.
Bill will forever be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His unwavering faith, warm spirit, and boundless energy brought joy to everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched.
