William John MacCormack (Bill) passed away on November 23rd, 2024 at the age of 82. The first of three children, he was born on November 23, 1942 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to John and Frances MacCormack. He spent his childhood in the suburbs of New Jersey, watching as much baseball as he could, and eventually joining ROTC. Bill retired from the Air Force as a Captain, and continued to serve his country by working for the Department of Defense for 34 years.
He married the love of his life, Jessica Diane Cheek, in 1968, and they had 2 children. Bill always put family and his children first, and adored his five grandchildren. Bill was a devout runner for nearly 4 decades, and a member of the Howard County Striders for many years, running 30 marathons and hundreds of races locally and all over the country. He refused to give up his walks and daily exercise routine even at his advanced age.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jessica Diane MacCormack (Cheek), and his sister MaryFrances Murray (MacCormack). He is survived by his sister Grace Giordano (MacCormack); his son Bill and wife Sarah; his son Dave and wife Jen; and his five grandchildren, Caelan, Leah, Liam, Eamon, and Rhys.
A public viewing will take place Tuesday, December 3rd from 10am - 12pm at Harry H.
