July 24, 1949 – August 25, 2025
Wille Marquez, 76, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025.
A devoted husband, trusted businessman, and respected leader, Willie built a life marked by hard work, integrity, and a deep commitment to his community. He began his career as a carpenter, realtor, and custom home builder, founding and operating his own company, Sun Valley Ventures, for over two decades. Through his work, he helped shape neighborhoods and touched the lives of countless families in southern New Mexico.
Later in life, Wille brought his leadership and entrepreneurial spirit to public service when he moved to Santa Fe and served as the Director of the Correction Industries Division for the State of New Mexico. In this role, he worked to create opportunities and meaningful programs within the correctional system, always believing in the value of second chances and the power of purposeful work.
In retirement, Willie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed long walks with his dog, spending time in his yard tending to his beautiful flowers, and working on his beloved 1959 Chevy Corvette, a car he took great pride in restoring and maintaining. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Ryan and Tyler, who were the light of his life.
Beyond his professional achievements, Willie will be remembered for his sharp mind, his unwavering work ethic, and the quiet generosity he extended to those around him. He took pride in every project he touched and every life he helped improve. Willie’s legacy lives on in the homes he built, the lives he touched, and the family he loved deeply.
Willie is survived by his loving wife, Mona Marquez of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his daughter, Melissa Gaudet, and her husband Steve Gaudet, of Houston, Texas; and his two cherished Grandsons, Ryan and Tyer Gaudet, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Sanchez and Blanca Martinez, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marta and Eliseo Marquez; his sister, Luz White; and his brother, Oscar Marquez.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 1240 South Espina Street, Las Cruces, NM.
