William Marshall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson Funeral Home - Yorkville from Mar. 2 to Mar. 13, 2026.
William "Bill" Leslie Marshall, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and joyful memories. He was born in Aurora, IL on November 4, 1946 the son of Frank and Louise Marshall. He embraced life wholeheartedly and spent his later years as a cherished resident of The Villages, Florida.

Bill's journey was defined by his commitment to family and community. He married his beloved wife, Sheri on September 19, 1970, and together they created a home filled with laughter and love. Bill took immense pride in being a devoted father to his three children; Brian, Adam (Breda), and Lauren (Shawn) Decierdo, and he found great joy in being a grandfather to Trace, Tysen, Talon, Marshall, Claire and Liam. His family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He was a proud alumnus of Northern Illinois University. Bill earned his MBA and dedicated his professional life to the electrical contracting industry. From 1982 until his retirement in 2017, he successfully ran Frank Marshall Electric Inc. and was known for his leadership and commitment to excellence. His passion for mentorship was evident through his 15 years of service on the IBEW Local 461 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, where he helped shape the next generation of electricians.

Bill was a man of many interests; he thrived on adventure and the great outdoors. His hobbies included boating, fishing, and variety of racquet sports including tennis, pickleball, and racquetball. He was also a passionate golfer and shuffleboard player, and he enjoyed snow skiing and being a member of a Corvette Club. Above all, he was an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds through the written word.

Bill's community involvement extended to his membership in the National Electrical Contractors Association, and he was an active participant at St. Patrick Parish and St. Francis of Assisi Church, where his kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; his three children; his adoring grandchildren; his sister, Mary Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise Marshall.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street, Yorkville, IL. Friends may gather from 10:30 AM until Mass on Friday, March 20, 2026 in the Narthex at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Bill's honor to the Dementia Society of America, an organization that supports individuals and families affected by this challenging condition.

Bill Marshall will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but the warmth of his spirit and the love he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, adventure, and unwavering dedication to family. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
