William Mason, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at Triple Creek Retirement Village on May 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on July 21, 1941, in Addyston, Ohio, Bill was the cherished son of William E. and Jane B. (nee Fury) Mason. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1959 and pursued higher education at Eastern Kentucky University until he was drafted into the United States Army in Dec. 1963.
In his early years, Bill married Mary Otto, embracing the role of a devoted bonus dad to Andrew, as they expanded their family with the addition of Mark and Jennifer. Bill's work ethic was unparalleled; he devoted from August 31, 1970 to July 31, 2003 to Coca Cola, transitioning from driving delivery trucks to serving in security. His commitment to his family often led him to juggle two, sometimes three, jobs, including night shifts at Shriners' Hospital.
Bill was also a volunteer fireman from the 1974-1985, where his nickname was "Doc" since he had overseen 17 babies born in the back of the ambulance. He shared a special bond with his neighbors on Whitewater Drive, where the warmth of friendship flourished, and moments spent sipping coffee on the front porch or grilling out became cherished memories. A passionate sports enthusiast, he shared a unique connection with local baseball legend Pete Rose, recalling tales of their youth that brought laughter and camaraderie.
An avid lover of music, from classical to gospel, Bill found joy in the heartfelt notes of Johnny Cash. He beamed with pride during his children's and grandchildren's events, relishing moments like Grandparents' Day, which reflected the joy of family that was at the center of his life.
Bill found fulfillment in the world of CB and Ham Radio, proudly known as "Firefighter" on channel 12 and holding a Ham Radio license. His greatest joys came from his family; he inspired those around him to work hard, pursue their dreams, and make the world a better place.
William was preceded in death by his wife: Mary (nee Otto) Mason, son: Andrew Sisson; parents: William E and Jane B Mason; and brother: Michael Mason.
Those left to carry on William's legacy are his children: Mark (Emily) Mason, Jennifer (Jack) Snyder; daughter-in-law: Diana Sisson; grandchildren: Thomas & James Sisson, Kansas (Michael) Harvey, Ethan & Avery Mason, Kaelie, Elijah, and Samantha Snyder; great grandchildren: Rudy, Katherine, & Margaret Harvey; siblings: Lawrence (Marlene) Mason, Sharon (Edward) Mason-Mangold, numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law: John Otto and Sister-in-law: Carol Johnson.
