William (Bill) A. McCallister, 76, Albany, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, following an extended illness. Bill was a lifelong resident of Athens County. He was born in Athens, January 22, 1949, the son of Charles Edward McCallister and Margaret V. Sharp McCallister Thompson. Bill was a graduate of The Plains High School and ITT Technical Institute. He worked for GTE, The United Mine Workers of America, and worked many years in the fiber optics industry prior to retirement. His hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, baking holiday pies, and watching college and pro football.

Bill is survived by his grandchildren, Jerrika Daine Swart (Phillip Bell, partner), and William Alexander (Alex) McCallister, Athens, Ohio, and great-grandchildren, Paislee Bell, Zaine Bell, Zaiden McCallister, Salvador McCallister, and Lorelei McCallister; Casey Hamilton and family, Anthony Gardner, Kaylen Secoy, Aubrie Gardner; Jed Anderson and Sam Jones; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Tenney (Glenn), Athens, Ohio, Della Thompson (Dale), Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Heather Cumbo (Willard, Jr.), Albany, Ohio; Special Uncle, Wilfred (Dick) Sharp, caregiver and friend, Kim Hurt, and many extended relatives and lifelong friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ella Mae Cumbo McCallister, and son, Charles William McCallister.

Bill will be missed and rest in God's peace.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
