William McHale Obituary

William J. McHale (Bill) of Venice, Florida, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Florida after battling several health challenges over recent years. He was 83 years old.

A native of New York City, Bill was a graduate of St. Francis Preparatory High School in Queens, NY, and Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. He spent his long and distinguished career selling advertising time in Manhattan, ultimately retiring as Executive Vice President for CNN. After retirement, Bill and his wife moved to the Florida Keys, then up to Naples, Florida, over to Boynton Beach, Florida, and finally to Venice on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Bill is survived by his best friend and wife of 42 years, Gail (Nevins), daughter Christine Becconsall (Tom), son Matthew, granddaughters Michaela and Emma Becconsall, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sisters and brothers-in-law Janet and Gary Gressler, Betty and Dan Ellingsen, and Mary and Ted Greene together with their children and grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his parents Helen and William McHale, Sr., and sister and brother-in-law Ann and John Hemminger. Last, but certainly not least, Bill will be greatly missed by his much-loved dog, Ralphie.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice, FL at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 19.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local animal rescue or shelter.
